France fears impact of pandemic on summer tourism season

The French prime minister is chairing a meeting on Thursday to finalise the details of a plan to support the country's tourism sector.

As summer approaches, one of the most-visited countries in the world fears the impact on an industry comprising 7% of French economy.

'RELIABLE' ANTIBODY TEST APPROVED IN ENGLAND

Health officials in England have given approval to an antibody test to show if people have previously had Covid19.

It's being described as a 'very positive development' by the UK's testing co-ordinator Professor John Newton.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has previously described finding a reliable antibody test as 'game-changing'.

AUSTRALIA: Unemployed rises but far less than experts expected

Australia has seen it's worst monthly rise in the unemployment rate ever.
In April almost 600,000 people lost their jobs as restrictions to limit coronavirus were brought in, and thousands of businesses shut down, whilst many more were badly affected.

Many home-bound migrant workers die in road accidents in India

Several migrant labourers have died in India while attempting to get back to their villages in the midst of a nationwide lockdown.

Millions of migrant labourers have been stranded in Indian cities for over 50 days now with nearly all transport shut.

Trump breaks with Fauci over school closures

COVID-19 - Tanzania’s Central Bank lowers lending rate

EU unveils plans to reboot tourism and travel sector

The EU has set out its plans to reopen the travel and tourism business this summer. 

The Commission has proposed a set of guidelines to help countries lift border restrictions within the EU's internal borders. 

This would involve travel between so-called 'green zones' - countries with similar low COVID19 risk profiles - and health checks at border crossings.

UK GDP SHRINKS 2% IN Q1

LG Chem sends team to look into toxic gas leak at India plant
