The updated measures follow directives of the joint meeting of the Ministers responsible for Health and East African Affairs of the regional bloc issued on March 25 this year on the novel virus preparedness and response.

Actress Honor Blackman dies

Honor Blackman, best-known for playing Bond girl Pussy Galore, has died at the age of 94.

 

The British actress, who became a household name in the 1960s, enjoyed a career spanning eight decades. 

 

She died of natural causes, unrelated to coronavirus.

US braces for week of "peak deaths"

The US already has more cases of Coronavirus than anywhere else in the world - now its bracing itself for a week in which officials say the number of deaths will peak.


America has nearly twice as many cases as Spain and Italy, according to Reuters news agency - with roughly twice as many people a day dying.

New York zoo tiger tests positive for Covid-19

A four-year-old Malayan tiger at a New York zoo has tested positive
for the coronavirus.

This is believed to be the first known instance of a human passing
Covid-19 onto an animal and it becoming sick.

Hospital admissions stabilise in Belgium, but lockdown may be extended until May 3rd

The number of COVID-19 patients being treated in intensive care in Belgium has decreased for the first time, with trends indicating the epidemic is being taken under control.

In a week, Belgium has more than doubled its testing capacity from 4000 to 10,000 per day.

But the country has been urged to stick with lockdown measures that may be extended from April 19th to the beginning of May.

UK REJECTS MILLIONS OF COVID-19 ANTIBODY TESTING KITS

The UK has been forced to reject millions of COVID-19 antibody testing kits, which would have detected whether the user has had the virus.

Public Health England, which is managing England's pandemic response, says the kits only gave a positive reading for those who had been severely ill.

UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson spends night in hospital with coronavirus

Prime Minister Boris Johnson is "still very much in charge," UK government ministers claim, despite spending the night in hospital with coronavirus. 

 

Mr Johnson was taken to a London hospital on Sunday evening with "persistent symptoms," including a temperature. 

 

He tested positive for the virus on 27th March.

Uganda Registers COVID-19 Cases Rise to 52

Uganda's COVID-19 cases have risen to 52 after 4 more cases were confirmed.
