Seattle Public Schools to close amid coronavirus concerns

Seattle Public Schools, near the epicenter of an outbreak in Washington state, will close for at least two weeks amid growing concerns from parents and staff to stop the spread of the virus.

Harvey Weinstein handed 23 year prison sentence

Harvey Weinstein sentenced to 23 years in jail after rape, sexual assault convictions

Merkel: 60-70% of population likely to get coronavirus

German chancellor Angela Merkel says according to experts, sixty to seventy percent of the population is likely to become infected with coronavirus.

UK CUTS INTEREST RATES TO MINIMISE CORONAVIRUS IMPACT

The UK's central bank has slashed the main interest rate by over half, to try to minimise the economic impact of the coronavirus epidemic.

The Bank of England governor, Mark Carney, said the lower rate should help boost boost cashflow and raise confidence.

UK Health Minister has coronavirus

A UK Health Minister, Nadine Dorries, is in self-isolation after testing positive for coronavirus, sparking alarm through political circles about who else in Westminster may be infected. 

 

The 62 year-old MP hopes she's "over the worst" after being laid up with a fever and cough since the weekend.

 

But health officials are scrambling to track down all those who have been in contact with her since she started to feel ill, including the Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who hosted an event at Downing Street that she attended recently.

Coronavirus: Turkish airlines suspend all flights to Nigeria


Turkish Airlines has suspended all flight operations to Nigeria indefinitely, in a bid to contain the spread of coronavirus disease.

India's federal government confirmed that the number of coronavirus detected patients have risen to over 60.

BOE SLASHES UK INTEREST RATES OVER CORONAVIRUS

The Bank of England's made an emergency cut to interest rates in response to the coronavirus outbreak.

The main rate's gone down from 0.75 percent to a joint historic low of 0.25 percent.

Democratic Republic of Congo Records First Case of COVID 19

Number of dead in Italy from the coronavirus sees record spike

At least 631 people are now confirmed to have died from the coronavirus in Italy, with a total of 10,000 people now testing positive for the disease.

The National Institute of Health said that 168 people had died in the last 24 hours, the highest number in a day so far.

Kenya's Rare White Giraffes Killed
