Trump warns Iran over US drone attack

US President Donald Trump says Iran "made a very big mistake" shooting
down an American drone.

When asked how the US would respond he warned "you'll soon find out",
raising the threat of conflict between the two countries.

EU hopes Iran-US tensions will ease

The European Union's foreign policy chief has said the bloc will do what it can to ease tensions between the US and Iran.

Federica Mogherini said the EU wants to make sure that an escalation is avoided.

It comes after Iran shot down a US military drone on Thursday.

UN MONITORING SUDAN REFUGEE FLOWS

The UN  Refugee Agency (UNHCR) and Addis Ababa are closely monitoring movement of people at the border of between Ethiopia and Sudan.

UNHCR says it's been preparing for a possible influx of refugees due to instability in Sudan, but hasn't seen evidence of it yet.

Iran Shoots Down U.S. Drone

Iran has shot down a US surveillance drone which it said was flying over its territory.

Indian city of Chennai runs out of water

The southern Indian city of Chennai, home to more than 8.5 million people, is grappling with a severe water crisis after its four main reservoirs have run completely dry.

Chennai is one of 21 cities that a government think-tank warned last year could run out of groundwater by 2020.

DRC VIOLENT ETHNIC CLASHES

More than 300,000 people have been displaced following inter-ethnic violence between Hema herder and Lendu farming communities in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

 

The UN Refugee Agency says people are fleeing attacks and counter-attacks as both communities form self-defense groups to carry out revenge killings.
