Germany began auctioning off frequencies for the 5G mobile network it plans to build in the coming years.

The buildup to the event has been dominated by questions about whether Chinese company Huawei would be excluded 5G infrastructure over security concerns.

Paris named world's most expensive city along with Hong Kong and Singapore

Paris has been named the world's most expensive city to live in alongside Hong Kong and Singapore.

The three cities were given joint first place in a report by The Economist Intelligence Unit.

Venezuelan capital Caracas and Damascus in Syria were named the cheapest places to be a resident.

Paris' police chief has been sacked as the government moves to take a tougher line on violent protests.

UK GOVT PLOTS NEXT BREXIT STEPS AFTER SPEAKER INTERVENTION

UK Prime Minister Theresa May's holding talks with her cabinet on how to proceed with Brexit after a major intervention from the Speaker of the House of Commons.

On Monday, Speaker John Bercow said the government could not hold a new so-called 'meaningful vote' on its Brexit deal - unless substantial changes were made.

Theresa May's expected to ask the EU this week for a delay to the Brexit date currently scheduled for March 29th.

But Brexit Secretary Steve Barclay hopes it will be a short extension and that there will be a third 'meaningful vote' on the divorce deal agreed with brussels.

Russian human rights campaigner sentenced

A prominent human rights campaigner in the Russian region of Chechnya has been sentenced to four years in a penal colony.


Campaign groups say the charges were bogus and aimed at suppressing their work.

NEW ZEALAND: Prime Minister Ardern moves on gun control

New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has pledged a swift crackdown on guns as the city of Christchurch continues to mourn and prepares to bury its dead.
Ten people, including a four-year-old girl, remain in critical condition, three days after the shooting at two mosques allegedly carried out by Australian white supremacist Brenton Tarrant which killed 50 and wounded 50 more.
Ardern has confirmed she would present new gun laws within 10 days, while calling for residents to consider voluntarily handing over their firearms.

UN expert says Israel exploitation of Palestinian resources violates human rights

Police Name Suspect in Utrecht Shooting

Police are searching for 37-year-old Gökeman Tanis in connection to a fatal shooting in the Dutch city of Utrecht.


The shooting happened on a tram in the city, and left three dead and nine others injured.

WFP STOPS DISTRIBUTING BLENDED FOOD IN UGANDA
