Markets boosted as President Trump pushes back tariff increase on Chinese goods


Markets around the world were boosted by US President Donald Trump's decision not to raise tariffs on $200 billion of Chinese goods at the start of March.

The announcement came as the latest round of trade talks between the US and China wrapped up in Washington.

Former Trump campaign staffer claims he kissed her without consent

A former member of President Trump's election campaign staff is alleging that he kissed her without her consent at a rally in Florida during the 2016 election.


The claim is contained in a civil lawsuit that is targeting the President with claims of sexually predatory conduct.

Taliban member meets with White House envoy

A senior member of the Taliban has held talks with a top U.S. envoy
seeking to work out a peace plan in Afghanistan.

Officials from the U.S. said they made progress in ending the 17 year
conflict when they met Taliban members last month.

Kim's long train ride to Vietnam may signal more than safety

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un is on a train chugging across China toward Vietnam. He's meeting President Trump in Hanoi for their second summit. The long train ride signals Kim is concerned about safety, but also, perhaps, show.

According to Tak Hyeon-min, Kim's luxury train-ride puts his journey in the news.

New vote on Brexit deal

MPs in the UK will have a fresh vote on the Brexit deal by the 12th March. 

Prime Minister Theresa May announced the decision as she travelled to an EU-Arab League summit in Egypt. Mrs May has ruled out holding another so-called "meaningful vote" this week.

UK PM 'CONSIDERS BREXIT DELAY'

UK Prime Minister Theresa May is reportedly considering committing to a Brexit delay if she can't secure a deal with the EU by mid-March.

She's told lawmakers they'll get a so-called 'meaningful vote' on a Brexit deal by March 12th.

But Mrs May is under pressure from some MPs to rule out a 'no deal' Brexit if she can't reach an agreement with the EU that she can get through the UK's House of Commons.

She's been holding Brexit talks at an EU summit in Sharm-el-Sheikh and continues to insist changes can be won to the controversial Irish border backstop solution.

Trump delays further tariffs on China after "substantial progress" in trade talks

President Donald Trump has announced that the US will delay imposing more tariffs on Chinese goods.
Mr Trump had threatened to raise duties from 10 per cent to 25 per cent from Friday.
But as Kate Fisher reports, he says "substantial progress" has been made in trade talks allowing further tariffs to be delayed.

R. Kelly charged with 10 counts of aggravated sexual abuse

The R&B singer R. Kelly has been charged with ten counts of aggravated sexual abuse by prosecutors in Chicago.


The move comes after videotape emerged allegedly showing the R&B singer assaulting an underage girl.

Iran given until June to strengthen anti-money laundering rules

Iran has been given four more months to strengthen its anti-money laundering rules.

India to block off excess water supply to Pakistan

The Indian government has said it is working on a plan to restrict the flow of excess water to Pakistan from its share of rivers.
