CRASHED PLANE BODY IS EMILIANO SALA

British police say a body recovered from a plane that crashed in the English Channel is that of missing Argentine footballer Emiliano Sala.

The Cardiff City signing had been travelling from Nantes in a small aircraft on 21st January.

The plane's pilot David Ibbotson has not yet been located.

A body had been spotted in the plane's wreckage off Guernsey.

Football writer Keir Radnedge says the timing of the incident is devastating.

US, ROK delay official announcement of spring war games

South Korea and the U.S. have delayed announcing the official start of annual spring military drills. It's an apparent move by the allies to maintain a peaceful mood ahead of the upcoming summit between President Donald Trump and leader Kim Jong-un.

Seoul's Yonhap News reports the military exercises won't be announced until after the second Trump-Kim summit.


The leaders will meet on February 27th and 28th in Vietnam.


But according to Yonhap, the drills are still tentatively scheduled to begin March 4.


To avoid provoking Pyongyang, the allies have also renamed one of the exercises.


And they're reportedly considering renaming a second drill and scaling it down.


North Korea has long claimed the spring war games are a rehearsal for invasion.

Amazon boss says tabloid tried to blackmail him

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has accused the National Enquirer, an American tabloid magazine, of trying to blackmail him over selacious pictures.

In an online post Mr Bezos said the magazine's parent company, American Media Inc, asked him to drop an investigation into how it obtained his private messages.

US Plans to Leave Syria by End of April

The United States is making plans to withdraw all American forces from Syria by the end of April, according to a report in the Wall Street Journal. 

The report cites unnamed current and former US officials.

UN investigator says Khashoggi murder perpetrated by Saudi Officials

A United Nations investigator has announced that the murder of
journalist Jamal Khashoggi was premeditated and perpetrated by Saudi
officials.

His death at the Saudi consulate in Istanbul back in October sparked
international outrage.

Saudi Arabia has previously blamed the death on a rogue operation but
US media report that the CIA point the finger of blame at Crown Prince
Mohammed bin Salman.

EU and UK Brexit teams will resume talks

France has recalled its ambassador to Italy from Rome for consultations, after a series of attacks on the French government by Italian politicians.

A South Korean lawmaker told reporters the talks are in their final stage.


A decision on sharing the bill for U.S. troops in South Korea has been delayed for months.


Seoul officials have said the Trump administration had demanded South Korea pay twice its current share.


South Korea paid roughly 850 million dollars last year.


According to Yonhap News, the lawmaker says a new one-year deal will cost roughly 890 million dollars.


It's a jump of around eight percent, but not the high-price tag President Trump had pursued.


Trump has suggested in the past that America's allies are freeloading.

Body removed from plane carrying Emiliano Sala

A body has been recovered from the plane carrying footballer Emiliano Sala which crashed into the English Channel.

The Argentine striker was flying to join his new club, Cardiff City, after being signed from FC Nantes.

Now the French team have began asking for the first installment of the 19 million dollar transfer fee.

German anti-trust watchdog rules against Facebook

Germany's anti-trust watchdog has ruled against Facebook, saying it will restrict the American company's ability to collect user data on third party websites.

Labour Letter Lists Brexit Demands

Swine flu cases and deaths spike in India

India has seen a spike in swine flu H1N1 cases this year, rising to more than 6,700 cases, while the number of deaths has more than doubled compared to a year ago.

There were 798 cases of swine flu in the country in the same period last year.

Indian government sets up cow protection panel

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's right-wing, Hindu majority government has approved the formation of a national cow commission that will look into the conservation and protection of cows. 

A majority of Hindus consider cows holy- and critics have accused the government of encouraging cow vigilantes who've been involved in several instances of mob lynching in the guise of protecting cows.

US concerned about Jehovah's Witness jailed for 'extremism'

2018 forth hottest year on record

Last year was the fourth hottest on record, according to Nasa scientists.

The report, which was delayed due to the US government shutdown, says some of the heat helped fuel disasters like the wildfires in California that destroyed cities and left thousands homeless.
