Greek government faces collapse over Macedonian name change

French President Macron launches national debate in response to Yellow Vests

French President Emmanuel Macron has launched a what he's calling a « great national debate » with an open letter to the French published in Monday's newspapers.

The idea is to head off the anger shown by the « Yellow Vests » protesters by holding a series of town hall meetings across the country to listen to voters' grievances.

EU to Send Reassurance Letter to the UK

The European Union will soon be issuing a letter detailing reassurances that the Irish border backstop is only a temporary measure of last resort.

South Korea says it hopes to hold the reunions around a traditional holiday.

Both Koreas celebrate the Lunar New Year on February fifth.

Several hundred separated family members met in person in North Korea last fall amid North-South peace talks.

But for now, there are no plans for more face-to-face meetings.

After nearly 70 years of separation, a webcam feed may be the only access war-torn families have to each other.  

Many, however, will die without ever reconnecting with their loved ones.

India mulls sweeping changes to laws governing social media platforms

Trump threatens to 'devastate Turkey economically'

US President Donald Trump says he "will devastate Turkey economically" if they attack US-allied Kurdish fighters in Syria.

Report: FBI launched probe into whether Donald Trump is a Russian government asset

The White House is dismissing as "absurd" a report that the FBI opened an investigation into whether President Trump was working as a Russian government asset.


The New York Times says a counterintelligence investigation was launched by the FBI in the spring of 2017.

Missing Teenager Leads Police to Suspected Abductor

UN rights envoy says abuses in N. Korea must be addressed


The UN rights investigator for North Korea says human rights must be included in denuclearization talks. Kim Jong-un met with multiple world leaders last year. But widespread allegations of rights abuses in his country were never addressed.

Tomas Ojea Quintana told reporters that human rights are guaranteed through peace… and peace is secured through human rights.

He said the issue was sidelined in last years nuclear talks, but that can't be the case this year.

UN commissions have concluded Pyongyang is responsible for enslavement, torture, forced abortion and other crimes against humanity.

The leaders of South Korea and U.S. have avoided the topic in talks with Kim Jong-un, suggesting abuses will be addressed once the nuclear threat is resolved.

But so far little apparent progress has been made on denuclearization.
