A Russian company will later demonstrate one of the world's first-ever flying taxis, a two-seater quadcopter that it hopes to bring to market in the next few years. It follows the taxi app Uber's advances in aerial taxis. Dan Ashby has more.

Probe into Indian train tragedy finds organisers had no permission

Two months after 61 people were mowed down by a speeding train in the Indian city of Amritsar, a probe has found that the event was organised illegally.

The incident was the country's worst rail disaster this year.

The victims were standing on railway tracks watching celebrations for Dussehra -- a Hindu festival marking the triumph of good over evil.

Two French journalists accused of 'spying' by Indian police

Two French journalists who were reportedly working on a documentary on the environmental impact of illegal sand mining in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu have been booked for trespassing a government sand mining facility.

The two work for Forbidden Stories- an organisation that conducts investigations into those stories where local reporters are threatened.

May continues to try to sell Brexit deal with defeat looming

British Prime Minister Theresa May says she's exploring ways to avoid falling into the backstop arrangement for Northern Ireland just days before a crucial vote on her Brexit deal that she looks set to lose.

Around one hundred MPs have vowed to vote against her Brexit withdrawal agreement next week, many concerned that if the UK ever enters the backstop arrangement, it cannot exit it without permission from the European Union. From London, Catherine Drew reports.

Students blockade high schools as France protests continue

High school students across France are blockading their schools on Thursday, as students join the ongoing protest movement against the government.

The presidency announced on Wednesday that a controversial tax rise on fuel - which originally sparked the unrest - is now going to be cancelled, but that doesn't seem to have calmed the anger.

South Korea's military says it's been closely monitoring the North Korean missile base with the U.S.

But it refused to comment further about news reports.

Citing a U.S. research institute, CNN reported satellite imagery shows the base has been active before and after this year's summit between President Donald Trump and leader Kim Jong-un.

The report says the base could house long-range missiles capable of striking the U.S.

North Korea has never promised this year to fully halt its weapons development.

But analysts suggest the report could undermine Washington's faith in Kim that he'll eventually give up his nuclear weapons.

Huawei executive arrested in Canada may be extradited to US

Canadian authorities have arrested the chief financial officer of Chinese telecommunications giant Huawei, on charges of breaching sanctions against Iran.

Meng Wanzhou, the daughter of the company's founder, was arrested in Vancouver and may be extradited to the United States.

Huawei has denied the company has breached any laws and has protested to the US and Canada.

Our Hong Kong correspondent Patrick Fok says the arrest could harm both US-China relations, and the international prospects of Huawei.
