Syrian government forces retake Douma and Russian military police move in

The Syrian government flag is flying over the town of Douma after its military forces drove out rebel factions according to Russian media.

Duma is the site of the suspected chemical weapons attack which has lead to US president Donald Trump saying Russia should be ready for american strikes in Syria.

UK has time to make single market decision

The European Union's chief Brexit negotiator says the UK has until the end of 2020 to change its mind about leaving the single market. 


The EU says the UK could still adopt of model of being out of the EU, but still enjoy the trade benefits of being in Europe's common market.

Yulia Skripal issues statement saying no one speaks for her

Yulia Skripal, who was poisoned with a nerve agent alongside her father, a former Russian spy, has issued a statement rejecting the help of the Russian embassy for the moment. 

The 33 year old has issued a statement saying her father remains seriously ill.   The UK has blamed Russia for the poisoning, something it has strenuously denied.

Rape and murder of 8-year-old girl sparks protests in India

In the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir, the rape and murder of an 8-year-old Muslim girl has sparked off widespread protests along communal lines.

Hindu nationalists have been protesting in the town of Kathua where the crime took place, demanding justice for the accused. Eight people have been arrested for the rape and murder- they all belong to the Hindu community.

California National Guard Will NOT Help to Build Border Wall


California's Governor Jerry Brown has agreed to commit troops to President Trump's National Guard deployment to the US Mexico border. 

But Governor Brown says California troops will NOT participate in immigration enforcement or  the building of any wall.

Hundreds dead in Algeria plane crash

More than 250 people have died in a military plane crash in Algeria.

It's the country's worst ever air accident and the government has called three days of national mourning.
