Venezuela Launches the Petro

Venezuela has launched a new digital currency called the Petro. Some analysts are calling it an ingenious plan to counter US sanctions--- others say it's a desperate move by Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro to secure cash in the midst of an economic meltdown.

OXFAM: THOUSANDS STOP DONATING OVER SEX SCANDAL

Thousands of people have cancelled regular donations to charity Oxfam over a sexual misconduct scandal.

The details emerged as Oxfam boss Mark Goldring was questioned by UK MPs about a controversy which started when it emerged staff had used prostitutes in Haiti.

US Cyber Firm Warns over Emerging North Korea Cyber Group

An American cyber-security firm is warning of the dangers posed by an emerging North Korean team of government hackers.

UNICEF issue blank statement on Syria

The United Nations children's agency UNICEF has issued a blank
statement in response to an escalating siege on Syria's Eastern
Ghouta.

Around 400,000 people are besieged there and monitors say government
forces have conducted their worst bombardment in years killing around
100 people.

Russian curler tested positive in second test sample

A Russian Olympic curler has tested positive for a banned substance in his second test sample. The Olympic Athletes from Russia delegation expressed 'sincere regret' over the incident, but said the concentration of the substance was "insignificant."

KFC shuts more outlets amid chicken delivery problems



The fast-food chain KFC has closed more if its shops in the UK and Ireland after they ran out of chicken.    


A change in delivery supplier and subsequent problems has forced the closure of nearly two thirds of the chain's 900 outlets.

Britain post-Brexit will not be a 'Mad-Max-style world borrowed from dystopian fiction'.

That's according to the UK's Brexit Secretary David Davis who's attempting to reassure European nations that Britain will remain committed to high workers' rights and environmental standards.

Former EU president exposed for lobbying EU Commission despite saying he wouldn't

It's been revealed that the former president of the European Commission has lobbied the current EU executive on behalf of his new employer Goldman Sachs despite promising he wouldn't.

The only details know about the meeting are that trade and defense matters were discussed.

Jose Manuel Barroso (Pron: Bah-Ross-Oh) lead the EU commission between 2004 and 2014 and sparked controversy when he took a position at Goldman Sachs in 2016.

US AND UK DISCUSS FATE OF 'BEATLES' TERROR SUSPECTS

The US and UK are in talks about how to deliver justice to two men from London detained in Syria, suspected of being members of an Islamic State cell known as 'the Beatles.'

The UK wants Allexanda Kotey and El Shafee Elsheikh to go on trial.

They're accused of being members of a four-strong ISIS cell which killed western hostages.

It's reported they've been stripped of their British citizenship and the US is thought to be considering sending them to the military prison at Guantanamo Bay.

Funerals of church shooting victims in Russia

A day of mourning will be held in the town of Kizylar in the Dagestan region of Russia, for five women who were shot dead in an attack on a church on Sunday. An Archbishop has given permission for the victims to be buried as 'martyrs', in the grounds of the church where they died. Lucy Taylor reports from Moscow.

Florida students to lead gun control push
