Police arrest suspect following Barcelona attack

A man has been arrested following what is being treated as a terror attack in which a van rammed into crowds in Barcelona in Spain.

Thirteen fatalities have been confirmed. Media reports suggest another man has been killed in a police shoot out.

Trump tweets in support of Barcelona

US President Donald Trump has published a tweet condemning the terror attack in Barcelona.

The message said the US condemns the terror attack in Spain and will do whatever is necessary to help -- adding, "Be tough, Be strong, we love you."

US Secretary of Defense: decision on new Afghanistan strategy "in very near future"


US Secretary of Defense James Mattis says a decision on the Trump administration's new strategy on Afghanistan will be announced imminently.

The Defense Secretary has been leading a review of the US position in the country alongside National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster.

1 confirmed dead in Barcelona terror attack

Spanish police have confirmed one dead and 32 injured in a terror attack on a popular tourist area of Barcelona.

A van drove into a crowd in the Las Ramblas neighborhood of shops and tapas bars.

Venezuelan Prison Riot Leaves Dozens of Inmates Dead

A riot in a prison in Amazonas state, in southern of Venezuela, has left at least 37 people dead.  


Prosecutors have confirmed that 14 officials were injured in the violence.

At least 13 are reported dead after a van ploughed into a crowd of tourists in the Ramplas neighborhood in Barcelona.

The Spanish police are treating this as a terror attack, with reports armed two men are hiding in a bar.

At least 2 dead in Barcelona attack

Spanish police are confirming at least two, and as many as four are dead after a van crashed through a crowd of tourists in the popular Ramblas area of Barcelona.

Local authorities are treating the incident as intentional, a possible terror attack.

With reports of gunmen possibly hiding in a bar, reporter Tim John and others have been moved to outside a police cordon for safety.

Barcelona Suspected Terrorist Attack: Eyewitnesses

A truck has ploughed into crowds in a busy tourist area of Barcelona, with reports that two people have died.

Several people have been injured and emergency services are at the scene.

Police have locked down the area and are treating it as a terrorist attack.

Meanwhile it's understood armed men have entered a restaurant in the city. Police are advising the public to stay away.

US military official says joint military drills with South Korea to continue

The United States and South Korea will not cancel plans to conduct annual joint-military drills next week, despite pressure from North Korea and Beijing to suspend the annual exercises.

Spanish police are treating the crash of a van into a crowd of tourists in Barcelona as a terror attack.

Two people are reported dead and multiple injuries.

There are also reports that two men have opened fire in a cafe.

"So foolish" to remove statues - Pres. Trump

U.S. President Donald Trump is saying via social media that it is foolish to remove the statues commemorating generals and others from the Confederate Army.

It was the planned removal of a statue of General Robert E. Lee that started the weekend protests and counter protests that left 1 dead, another man with a stroke and more than 20 injured.

International impact of Charlottesville violence grows

Two Canadians have been identified as participants with the KKK, neo-nazi and white supremacist protestors in last weekend's march on Charlottesville, Virginia which ended up in violent clashes.

The two men were identified from still frames from the increasingly popular Vice News (American cable & streaming video channel) documentary.

People on social media have been trying to identify the participants, such as those opposed to PEGIDA movements, PEGIDA originating in Germany as Patriotic Europeans Against the Islamisation of the West.

According to the documentary, one man claimed to drive 12 hours from Canada to participate, and our correspondent Ross Ingram reports:

UN hopes for Syria peace talks in months
