Kenyatta says he will respect the outcome of the vote

Voting in underway in Kenya where 19 million people will  elect a new President, with the contest between incumbent Uhuru Kenyatta and longtime rival Raila Odinga too close to call.

55 year-old Mr Kenyatta, son of the country's founding president, is seeking a second and final term in office.    72 year old Mr Odinga has run for the presidency and lost three times.

There are fears of unrest, similar to the outbreak of violence following the 2007 vote and the final days of the campaign have been marked by the murder of a senior election official and allegations of vote-rigging.

After voting Tuesday, Mr Kenyatta said he would accept the result and called on his opponents to do the same.
