US economy sees strong jobs growth

The US economy added a healthy 235,000 new jobs in February according
to the latest government data.

The first employment report under President Donald Trump showed the
jobless rate also fell slightly.

US Justice Dept. Deploys Extra Immigration Judges

The US Department of Justice is deploying extra judges to immigration detention centres, to speed up decisions on whether to grant asylum.

The Department's currently facing a backlog of over half a million cases.

Russia’s Paralympic Team to miss 2018 Winter Games qualifiers

The International Paralympic Committee refused to allow Russia's para athletes to take part in 2018 Winter Games qualifiers. It demands Russia complies with several conditions before its membership in the international body is reinstated. Russia's Paralympic team was suspended last year over doping accusations voiced by the Wold Anti-Doping Agency's investigative group headed by Richard McLaren. Strike shutters Berlin airports

Nearly seven hundred flights to and from Berlin were cancelled Friday as the result of a work stoppage by ground staff.

The strike comes in the middle of the world's biggest tourism trade fair.

2,000 people dead since Turkey-PKK truce failed

The United Nations estimate that around 2,000 people have been killed
since a truce between Turkey and the Kurdistan Workers Party collapsed
in 2015.

The UN believe there have been serious human rights violations since
then and blame the Turkish government for failing to launch any
investigations.

Seven injured in German axe attack

A mentally disturbed man attacked people with an axe at a train station in Germany, injuring seven people. 

The attack happened at Dusseldorf's main train station, but police said it didn't appear to be an act of terrorism.

Ethics watchdog slams White House for not punishing Trump advisor


The US government's ethics watchdog had voiced concern over the decision not to discipline top White House aide Kellyanne Conway for plugging Ivanka Trump's clothing brand.  

In a letter to the White House deputy counsel, the head of the Office of Government Ethics says not punishing Conway risks undermining the government's ethics policies.

Hospital Trade Group Questions GOP Healthcare Bill

A leading trade group representing US hospitals has expressed fears
about the Republican healthcare bill, saying poor Americans could lose
insurance. The American Hospital Association or AHA sent a letter to
Congress Wednesday asking them to consider how the American Health
Care Act could strip vulnerable patients of adequate coverage.

Leaders of the European Union have re-appointed former Polish prime minister Donald Tusk for a second term as president of the European Council.

27 of the 28 EU heads of state and government voted him back in - but the government of his native Poland has strongly opposed his re-election.

American environment head doubts CO2 contributes to climate change

The new head of the United States Environmental Protection Agency has stunned the scientific community and environmental groups by saying he doesn't think carbon dioxide is a major contributor to global warming.

Scott Pruitt made the comments in a television interview, raising concerns that the Trump administration will pull back from environmental protections domestically and internationally.
