Brazil: Dilma Rousseff could face impeachment


Brazil's Supreme Court has rejected President Dilma Rousseff's attempt to block a vote in Congress' lower house aimed at impeaching her. 

President Rousseff is being accused of using public funds to make her government performance appear better in order to get re-elected two years ago.

Clinton and Sanders Clash at New York Democratic Debate

US Presidential hopefuls are entering their final weekend of campaigning in New York, ahead of the state's crucial primary vote next Tuesday.

Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders squared up in Brooklyn on Thursday night at the latest Democratic debate, while all three Republican hopefuls appeared at a gala in Manhattan.

MAJOR EU ECONOMIES AGREE TAX INFO DEAL

The EU's five biggest economies have announced a deal to share information on secret ownership of trusts and businesses, following the Panama Papers scandal.

The automatic data exchange will take place between Britain, Germany, France, Italy and Spain and those countries are now calling on the entire G20 group of nations to do the same.

The leak of financial data from a Panamanian law firm exposed ways in which the world's wealthy and powerful have been keeping funds hidden.

Danny Cox of stockbroker Hargreaves Lansdown says it's a significant move.

German 'Mega-Brothel' Raided

A German 'mega-brothel' has been raided by police in Berlin, Germany.


Authorities detained six people in the overnight raids for charges relating to tax fraud and alleged human trafficking. Prostitution was legalised in Germany in 2002.

UK EU REFERENDUM CAMPAIGN GETS UNDERWAY

Britain's EU referendum campaign is officially kicking off (on Friday), ahead of the vote on June 23rd.

The 10 week campaign period will see millions of dollars spent and a series of major rallies and speeches.

Britons will vote on whether to stay in or leave the European Union with polls currently suggesting a slim lead for the REMAIN camp.

Bernie Sanders to attend Vatican conference

Somali-American Man Pleads Guilty To Trying to Join IS

A 20-year-old Somali-American man from the US state of Minnesota has
pleaded guilty to trying to join the Islamic State and fight for the
militant group in Syria. He joins more than 80 other people have been
charged in the US since 2014 for similar offenses involving the
Islamic State.

Lagarde Supports Clamp Down on Global Tax Avoidance

The  release of the Panama Papers demonstrates that global tax  evasion is  "unfinished business" according to Christine Lagarde.

The papers were from  the law firm  Mossack Fonseca which provides offshore shell company accounts to wealthy individuals.

Nigeria marks two years since Chibok girls abduction

Nigeria is marking two years since the kidnapping of young schoolgirls in Chibok a remote village in Nigeria by members of the extremist group Boko Haram.

Microsoft Sues U.S. Government

Microsoft has filed a lawsuit against the US government.
