Greek proposals being considered by creditors

Greece's new bailout proposal is being considered in Athens by MPs before launching negotiations with creditors on Saturday.

The request for a 3 year debt program with the Eurozone's rescue fund the ESM is set to involve far tougher austerity measures amounting to 13 billion euros in spending cuts.

Eurozone finance ministers are meeting Saturday to determine whether there is a basis for further negotiations - though a deadline to reach a deal is on Sunday when EU leaders will meet in Brussels.

There have been mixed reactions from eurozone capitals as to whether the proposal, drafted in less than 48 hours, will be enough to convince creditors.

Our Europe correspondent Sandra Gathmann says there are dividing lines in the eurozone over whether Greece should remain a member of the single currency.
