IS claims responsibility for Dallas attempted attack

Islamic State is claiming responsibility for the attempted attack on an art exhibition in a suburb of Dallas on Sunday where a competition was underway to depict the prophet Mohammed.


Two gunmen were killed by a police officer after they fired shots outside the community center where the event was underway.

Hillary Clinton takes hit in new poll

Polling suggests that Hillary Clinton has taken a hit, as controversy continues to swirl around her family's foundation and her use of a private email server while she was America's top diplomat.

But the same survey still found her with a lead over several potential Republican opponents and strong support among fellow Democrats.

IS claims responsibility for Prophet Muhammad exhibition shooting

The Islamic State group has claimed responsibility for a shooting at a an exhibition and cartoon contest featuring images of the Muslim Prophet Muhammad.
Elton Simpson and Nadir Soofi were shot dead by a police officer after they opened fire with assault rifles outside the event in Texas.
Simpson had been being monitored by federal authorities.

EU Spring Economic forecasts show continuing upturn in growth

The European Union has announced a relatively positive outlook across the bloc in its spring economic forecasts despite continuing alarm over Greek debt negotiations.

Real GDP across the bloc is expected to rise by 1 point 8 percent within the European Union for 2015 and 1 point 5 per cent in the single currency eurozone, according to EU economists.

Russia ramps up media fines amid criticism of attack on press freedom

Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed legislation increasing tenfold the maximum fine that can be levied on Russian news organisations accused of inciting extremism.


The move has been criticised by Russian and international human rights groups as a further attack on press freedom in Russia.

Police Name Texas Attack Suspects

US police have identified both suspected gunmen who attacked an event hosted by an anti-Islam group in Texas on Sunday.  

30 year old Elton Simpson and Nadir Soofi, who's 34, are alleged to have shot and wounded a security officer, before being killed by police. 

The gathering, which involved drawings of the prophet Mohammed, was organized by controversial anti-Muslim blogger and activist Pamela Geller.

Ibrahim Hooper is Communications Director at the Council on American-Islamic Relations. He denounced Sunday's attack and said his organisation had instructed Muslims not to take any notice of Geller's event:

Facebook Makes Changes to Non-profit to Connect Developing World

Facebook is making changes to its non-profit project Internet.org,  after criticism that the project ran afoul of net neutrality. 

Internet.org was designed to connect the billions of people who have little or no access to the Internet. 

It is currently available in nine markets in Africa, South America, and Asia.
