Obama poised for congressional battle over authorization for IS war
Briton who joined jihadi training camp jailed for 12 years
A British jihadist who fled to Syria and joined a militant group with links to the Islamic state has been jailed for 12 years.
Imran Khawaja, from London, was arrested last June after returning from six months in Syria.

Julian Assange policing costs reach 10m pounds
The cost of providing around-the-clock policing for Wikileaks founder Julian Assange has reached 10 million pounds (over 15 million dollars).
Mr Assange has been holed up in London's Ecuadorean embassy since August 2012 after being granted asylum, over fears that he could be extradited to the US to face charges relating to the release of top secret documents.

PricewaterhouseCoopers accused of promoting "industrial scale" tax avoidance
British accountancy firm PricewaterhouseCoopers has been accused of promoting tax avoidance on an industrial scale in a report by MPs.
It is said to have helped hundreds of clients cut their corporation tax bills by setting up bases in Luxembourg.

New peace efforts as Ukraine fighting rages
French President Francois Hollande and German Chancellor Angela Merkel have planned talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin to try and stop the escalation of fighting in eastern Ukraine.
They have already presented a peace plan to Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko.

UN report says IS is killing, torturing, raping children in Iraq
The United Nations says the extremist group, Islamic State is systematically killing, torturing and raping children and families of minority groups in Iraq.
The U.N. Committee on the Rights of the Child is calling on government forces there to do more to protect them.

New peace effort underway for Ukraine
Ukraine's President Petro Poroshenko and Prime Minister Arseny Yatsenyuk have been meeting with US Secretary of State John Kerry for talks on peace effort for Ukraine.
An offensive by Russian backed militants in the east of the country has lead to mounting civilian and military casualties, the shelling of residential areas and has forced thousands for flee from their homes.
Prime Minister Yatsenyuk says that Ukraine wants peace but will not give up its territorial integrity.
