Apple stops online sales in Russia because of rouble volatility

Technology giant Apple says it has stopped selling its products online in Russia because the country's rouble currency is too unstable to set prices.


The rouble has lost more than 20% in value on Monday and Tuesday despite a decision by the central bank to hike interest rates.

REVIEW LAUNCHED INTO SYDNEY HOSTAGE TAKER CHECKS

Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott has launched a review into security checks carried out on the Sydney cafe hostage taker.

Man Haron Monis was not on any watch list despite a criminal record, history of violence and extremist views.

Monis was killed as police raided a cafe in which he'd taken hostages on Tuesday.

Two hostages also died.

According to Iran - where Monis was originally from - Australia refused to extradite him 14 years ago.

Launching an inquiry into any background checks carried out, Prime Minister Abbott vowed to do everything in his power to keep Australians safe.

Apple found not guilty in $1 bn antitrust lawsuit

A California jury has unanimously found Apple not guilty of violating antitrust laws in an iTunes lawsuit.

Pennsylvania shooting-spree 'suspect' found dead

A body has been found in woods near to the home of a Marine veteran suspected of killing his ex-wife and five of her relatives in suburban Philadelphia.

The District Attorney says the body was found on Tuesday afternoon by police looking for 35-year-old Bradley William Stone.

'Nut Rage' executive faces criminal investigation

The former Korean Air executive who resigned following the 'nut-rage'
incident is being investigated on criminal charges by the South Korea
transport ministry.

Jeb Bush, the brother of former President George W Bush, says he's actively exploring the possibility of seeking the US Presidency in 2016.

UN chief condemns Pakistan school killings

The United Nations' Secretary-General has called the attack at the school in Pakistan "blood-curdling".

Ban Ki-moon said killing young children at school was an act of horror and cowardice, that was without justification.

World leaders condemn Pakistani school massacre

Americans support torture in some cases - Poll

The majority of americans supported the use of enhanced interrorgation techniques following the 9/11 attacks - according to a poll by the Washington post ad ABC News.

THe findings showed that 53 percent of people believed the methods, revealled by a recent Senate report, DID produce useful counter-terrorism intelligence.

Savile victims fund given green light

Britain's highest court has endorsed the creation of a compensation fund for people who were sexually abused by the late DJ and TV Presenter Jimmy Savile. 

More than 200 people have filed claims against the BBC presenter who died in 2011. His estate is estimated to be worth around $5 million dollars.  From London, Catherine Drew reports.

Pennsylvania manhunt continues

A former US marine suspected of killing six people in towns near Philadelphia is still on the run this morning.

As a precaution residents in the area are being told to stay inside and local schools have been closed.

London bombers appeal rejected

Four men who attempted to bomb the London Underground in 2005 have lost their appeal against their convictions at the European Court of Human Rights.

The bombers had targeted three Tube trains and a bus, but their explosives failed.
