First group of white South African “refugees” lands in US

A plane carrying 49 Afrikanas has arrived in the US.

President Donald Trump has given the white South Africans refugee status, claiming on Monday that victims of "genocide", despite police data not backing up that claim.

Their arrival comes after the White House halted relocation flights for refugees fleeing war, famine and genocide earlier this year. Toni Waterman has more.

US & China agrees 115% tariff reduction

The US and China have agreed to a drastic 115% reduction in their
reciprocal tariffs for the next 90-days.

It means Chinese goods entering the US will have a 30% tariff, while
US goods going to China will have a 10% levy placed on them.

U.S. Secretary of State to attend NATO meeting

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio is set to attend a meeting of NATO
foreign ministers in Turkiye later this week.

The gathering could coincide with a potential face to face meeting

China hails 'substantial progress' in trade talks with US

INTRO: China hailed on Monday "substantial progress" with the United States after talks in Geneva on dialling down their trade war yielded dramatic cuts to import tariffs.

The world's two biggest economies agreed to suspend their respective tariffs for 90 days while they negotiate. The US tariffs on Chinese imports will now be cut to 30 per cent , while Chinese tariffs on US imports will be cut to 10 per cent. Laura Westbrok reports from Hong Kong.

The agreement comes after two days of talks between the delegations in Switzerland.

The US and China have reached agreement to lower tariffs temporarily after concluding that they "neither side" favored the trade war underway between the two countries.


For the next 90 days, US tariffs on Chinese exports will fall to 30%, while Chinese tariffs on American goods will drop to 10%…with both sides agreeing to work on a long-term agreement.

HAMAS TO RELEASE LAST LIVING AMERICAN HOSTAGE FROM GAZA CAPTIVITY

Trump hints at China tariff reduction ahead of Switzerland talks

Donald Trump has indicated he might reduce tariffs on China in comments made before the two sides embark on crucial trade talks in Switzerland this weekend.

Last month the US President slapped 145% duties on imports from its Asian rival driving down trade and ramping up tensions.

The New York Times says the Trump Administration is close to relocating a first group of white South Africans to the US, even as virtually all other refugee programs grind to a halt.

Trump has criticized a new South African law that allows for the seizure of private land - which is largely owned by the white minority -  as an assault on their rights.
