North Korea confirms progress towards nuclear test 

North Korea says the spate of missiles it launched last week were in preparation for a nuclear weapons test. 

Pyongyang has launched seven missiles since the end of September, one of which flew over Japan into the Pacific Ocean. 


The tests come amidst warnings by South Korea that Pyongyang is gearing up for its first nuclear test in five years.

US announces new limits on sale of semiconductor technology to China

The Biden administration has announced sweeping new restrictions on the sale of semiconductor technology to China. 


The move is designed to hamper Beijing's ability to purchase critical tech needed for everything from supercomputing to guiding weaponry.

New York mayor declares state of emergency over influx of asylum seekers

New York's Mayor Eric Adams has declared a state of emergency over the

White House: No change in US nuclear posture, despite Biden "Armageddon" comments

The White House says no change is being made to America's nuclear posture, despite President Biden's claim on Thursday night that the world may be heading towards Armageddon over the crisis in Ukraine.

Nobel Peace Prize winners announced

A Belarusian human rights campaigner and two human rights organisations have won the Nobel Peace Prize.

Ales Bialiatski, Russian organisation Memorial and Center for Civil Liberties in Ukraine will share this year’s prestigious prize.


The winners were announced on Friday in Oslo, Norway.
