UPDATE: Despite letter to Iraq, US Defense Secretary denies troop withdrawal preparations are about to begin

The Pentagon is now denying that the US has any plans to withdraw its forces from Iraq, despite a letter sent to the Iraqi Defense Ministry by a top US Army official who said preparations for the withdrawal are about to get underway.


Defense Secretary Mark Esper says "no decision" on the pull-out of forces has yet been taken, after the Iraqi Parliament ordered their expulsion.

Pentagon tells Iraq that US will prepare troops for withdrawal from country

The US has told the Iraqi military that it WILL go ahead and prepare for the withdrawal of withdraw five thousand US troops stationed in the country.


The Iraqi Parliament voted over the weekend for the expulsion of all foreign forces based in the country, including around fifteen hundred British troops.

3 Americans Killed in Militant Ambush on Kenyan Airbase

Three Americans have been killed in an attack on a military base in Kenya.  It is the first attack on U.S. forces in Kenya by the Al-Qaeda linked group, Al Shabab.

Weinstein trial begins in New York

Media mogul Harvey Weinstein has arrived at a court in Manhattan for
the start of his criminal trial.

He is being charged with assaulting two women and could face life in prison.

Over 80 women have accused him of sexual misconduct but Weinstein

Iran, mourners vow revenge for Soleimani killing

Hundreds of thousands of mourners thronged the streets of Tehran on Monday, bidding farewell to Iranian military commander Qasem Soleimani. Britain’s “most prolific rapist” jailed for life

A serial sexual predator convicted of 159 sex offences, including 136 rapes, has been jailed for life. 


Reynhard Sinaga, aged 36, was found guilty of luring dozens men to his apartment from outside clubs in the UK city of Manchester, before drugging and assaulting them, and filming the attacks.

AU concerned about Libya

India voices concerns over Iran escalation with Iran and USA

Uganda's Bobi Wine Arrested

France tries first case connected to 2015 terror attacks

A special court set up in France to try suspects in the wave of terror attacks that shook the country in 2015 starts to hear its first case on Monday morning - but only five out of 24 suspects will be in court.

Battle Against the ADF Rebels

Students attacked in one of India's premier institutions - JNU
