NATO summit preparations underway

Preparations are underway for a major summit of NATO leaders in Wales on Thursday.

The event is being held at a crucial time for North American and European security as members of the alliance grow increasingly concerned about escalating tension with Russia over the Ukraine crisis and the battle against Islamic State militants in Iraq and Syria.

Various plans are expected to be unveiled including the development of a 4,000 troop-strong rapid-reaction force to be deployed within 48 hours of a Russian incursion into a member state.

Some analysts though expect the issue of NATO's depleting funds to become an issue.
