EU LEADERS PASS FUNDING FOR UKRAINE AS FARMERS & OTHERS PROTEST

The leaders of the European Union's 27 nations have approved an extra 50 billion dollars in funding for Ukraine.

They met in Brussels on Thursday to convince Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban to allow the package to pass.

He had been holding out — demanding the funds be reviewed on an annual basis rather than approving everything in one go, something the other 26 leaders were against.

Meanwhile, European farmers and other activists have taken to the streets near the EU Council to try to capture leaders' attention while they're in the city.

Ross Cullen reports from Brussels.
