Extended lockdown hits German economy as vaccine rollout speeds up

Germany's economy has been hit hard by prolonged lockdowns, with new analysis showing the economy shrank in the first quarter of this year. 

A fall was expected, but the size of the drop in GDP went further than analysts predicted.
