India to revoke special status for Jammu and Kashmir

India's government says it will revoke a special constitutional provision that gave Jammu and Kashmir significant constitutional autonomy.

This move is aimed at fully integrating its only Muslim-majority region with the rest of the country. Pakistan has condemned the move, accusing India of violating international norms. India and Pakistan govern Kashmir in parts but both claim the state in full.
