The U.S. military is confirming that live anthrax spores were shipped to 51 labs in 17 states, the District of Columbia and 3 foreign countries - Australia, Canada and South Korea.
The Pentagon is investigating shipments coming out of the Dugway Proving Ground in Utah for the past decade and how they failed to fully kill the bacteria, which in large enough exposure can be deadly.
Deputy Secretary of Defense Bob Work says the general public is not at risk, but extra precautions are being taken for the lab workers.
