Years of concern for Virginia shooter

Company documents point to years of concern about Vester Lee Flanagan, the man who shot two of his former colleagues on live television outside Roanoke, Virginia.

His own manifesto, sent to an American network, insists he'd been repeatedly discriminated against.

50 people found dead inside a truck in Austria

Around 50 bodies have been found inside a truck parked on a highway in Austria.

Police say they suspect the passengers inside died from suffocation and are still looking for the driver who appears to be on the run.

Hillary Clinton vows to "take on" gun violence

Hillary Clinton says Wednesday's murder of two television station employees during a live broadcast again illustrates the need for America to embrace gun control.


She told reporters she'd experienced "heartache" when she heard of the killings of Alison Parker and Adam Ward by a disgruntled former colleague.


And she said the United States is "smart enough" to find a way of keeping guns out of the hands of the deranged and the disturbed.

Smaller panda cub at National Zoo dies

The smaller of the two panda cubs born just a few days ago has died.

The smaller cub was found to be in some sort of respiratory distress  when the veternarians went to swap the babies, a normal protocol developed by the Woolong Panda Center to help a panda mother raise twins.

Don Neiffer is  chief veterinarian of the National Zoo, part of the Smithsonian Institution.

Police begin investigation into Virginia TV killings

Police in Virginia say an investigation has begun into Wednesday morning's shooting of a TV reporter and a cameraman during a live on-air broadcast.


The gunman responsible for the attack, Vester Flanagan, died of a self-inflicted gunshot after first posting video of the murder to social media websites.

Guman in "very critical condition" after TV shooting

The murder suspect wanted in connection with today's killing of a television reporter and a TV cameraman in Virginia is reported to have shot himself.

Virgina man shoots himself after killing former colleagues

The man suspected of killing two former colleagues live on television has reportedly shot himself after a police chase.

Bryce Williams used to work at WDBJ-TV in Roanoke, Virginia, and alledgedly shot Alison Parker and Adam Ward to death.

50 bodies found aboard rescued migrant boat

Around 50 bodies have been found in the hold of a boat carrying hundreds of migrants off the Libyan coast.

More than 400 people were rescued by a Swedish vessel but the incident is of 10 emergency signals sent by boats in distress and picked up by the Italian coastguard on Wednesday alone.

US Markets open higher on fresh Chinese stimulus

Markets in the United States moved sharply higher in the first few
minutes of trading on Wednesday as Wall Street looks to break six
straight days in the red.

Weakness in the Chinese economy continues to shake global markets but

Pentagon awards multi-billion dollar contract for Humvee replacement

The US military has awarded its first major contract in a process that's expected to result in the purchase of close to 50-thousand new vehicles.

American truck maker Oshkosh won the initial contract to build around 17-thousand Joint Light Tactical Vehicles.

Law enforcement are searching for a man who shot a journalist and her cameraman to death live on morning television, and also badly injured the woman being interviewed.

Alison Parker and Adama Ward worked for WDBJ-TV of Roanaoke, Virginia and were doing a story on water parks.
