US President Donald Trump has again threatened to withdraw from NATO, calling it a 'paper tiger'.
In an interview with the UKs Daily Telegraph newspaper, he said he was strongly considering withdrawing the US from the military alliance.
In response to the comments, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer backed NATOs effectiveness, but also told a pre-arranged press conference that the UK should be building closer ties with Europe.
Despite the US criticisms, the Prime Minister refused to be drawn on if he was picking Europe over the United States.

The UK Prime Minister's given junior doctors in England an ultimatum, as a long running dispute over pay and conditions continues.
So-called Resident Doctors are planning a six day strike next week, but Sir Keir Starmer's given them 48 hours to call it off and accept the 'above inflation' pay rise that's been offered.
He says he could withdraw thousands of extra training posts if the walkouts go ahead.
The British Medical Association says creating those posts shouldn't be dependent on calling off strikes, but Government Minister James Murray disagrees…
