Voters are heading to the polls in three US states today in the first primary contests for this year's midterm elections.
The results will determine which Republicans and Democrats face off in a number of key races in November.

US President Trump says that Iranian officials the United States had eyed as potential new leaders of the country had been killed in the U.S.-Israeli bombing campaign. As the war in the Middle East widened, he said that the worst outcome would be that whoever takes over Iran could be "as bad" as their predecessors.
He also claimed that he went to war with Iran as a preemptive action before it attacked Israel.

More than 800 people have been killed in the conflict across the Middle East since Saturday, when the United States and Israel launched their attacks on Iran and killed the country's supreme leader.
On Tuesday the Israeli military said that it was carrying out additional strikes in Iran, and had targeted weapons storage facilities in the Lebanese capital, Beirut.
Hezbollah, the Iran-backed Lebanese terrorist group said it had fired attack drones at Israel.
Explosions have also been witnessed on Tuesday across the Gulf states of Abu Dhabi, Kuwait, Doha and Dubai, from where Blake Sifton sent this report

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio says that the United States knew that Israel was planning to attack Iran, and so took pre-emptive action against the regime in Tehran to prevent it from taking reprisals against the United States for any Israeli assault.
In a new explanation of America's objectives, he has told reporters that regime change is NOT part of US military mission in Iran,

U.S. military officials say their operation against Iran is in its early stages, and more forces could head to the Middle East. Four US service members have been killed since the strikes began.
On Monday three U.S. jets were shot down by Kuwaiti air defenses in what the U.S. military called an "apparent friendly fire incident," with the crew members brought to safety.
