Typhoon Fung-wong brings floods to Taiwan, thousands evacuated

INTRO: More than 8,300 people were evacuated in Taiwan ahead of Wednesday's arrival of typhoon Fung-wong, with at least 51 injured.

It brought heavy downpours to the mountainous east coast and unleashed floods that ran neck-high in places. Laura Westbrook reports.

Turkey demands more than 2,000 years in jail for popular Istanbul mayor

A Turkish prosecutor has demanded a prison sentence of more than 2,000 years for Ekrem Imamoglu (PRON: Ima-moloo), the jailed opposition mayor of Istanbul.

Imamoglu denies leading a vast corruption network, and says the charges against him are politically motivated.

Pakistan suicide bombing kills 12 people

A suicide bombing in the Pakistani capital of Islamabad has killed at
least 12 people, and injured another 30.

The blast happened near the entrance of the city's district court.

At least eight killed in Delhi blast

The death toll from a blast in New Delhi has touched eight, with 20 people injured.
