North Korea fires multiple ballistic missiles, first launch in months

INTRO: North Korea performed its first ballistic missile tests in five months on Wednesday, days before U.S. President Donald Trump and other leaders are expected to meet in South Korea.

The launch was the first of its kind since South Korean President Lee Jae-myung took office in June. East Asia Correspondent Laura Westbrook has more from Hong Kong.

San Francisco officials threaten to sue if Trump sends National Guard

San Francisco officials say they'll take legal action if the Trump administration sends the National Guard to the city,  calling the threat unnecessary and unlawful. 

It comes after a federal appeals court cleared the way for the Guard's deployment to Portland, part of a wider clash between the White House and Democratic-led cities.

"No plans" for Trump Putin meeting

There are "no plans" for President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin to meet in the immediate future according to the White House.

It comes a few days after Donald Trump said such a meeting would happen soon in Hungary.

Appeals court okays National Guard deployment in Portland

Part of White House East Wing Demolished for New Ballroom
