Trump re-creates Department of War
US President Donald Trump has signed an executive order to change the
name of the Department of Defense to the Department of War.
It reverts the Department to the name used during the First and Second
World Wars.
For now it remains a secondary title, until Congress formally approves
the name change.
The US president made the announcement in the White House Oval Office.

Portuguese authorities say three British nationals were among 16 people killed in a funicular railway crash in Lisbon.

India overhauls consumption tax system
India has announced an overhaul of its consumption tax system, making most everyday goods cheaper.
Its Goods and Services Tax will now be divided into two slabs of 5 per cent and 18 per cent, replacing the current four categories.
The new rates come into effect from 22nd September. The move comes as many businesses in India are being impacted by new hefty US tariffs.

REPORTS: White House looking to offer New York mayor a job, to give Andrew Cuomo a better chance in mayoral election
It's being reported that the White House may be looking to directly intervene in the New York mayoral election by offering candidates who may split the vote jobs in the administration.
Any move would be an attempt to prevent liberal candidate, and favourite, Zohran Mamdani from winning the race.
