North India braces for an intense heatwave this week with the heat index hitting almost 50C

Much of north India is in the grips of an intense heatwave - after the real-feel temperature – or heat index – shot up to a scorching 48.9°C - the highest this summer.

AID YACHT DOCKS IN ISRAEL

A boat bound for Gaza carrying aid and campaigners, including Greta Thunberg, has docked in Israel.

Reports: Trump deploying hundreds of Marines in Los Angeles

President Trump is reported to be sending several hundred members of the US Marine Corps to Los Angeles, along with more National Guard troops following last night's clashes in pockets of the city between police and anti-deportation protestors.


The Governor of California, Gavin Newsom, is suing the Trump administration in an effort to block the move that he says will only inflame tensions.

Ugandan Security Recover Explosives in Suspected Terrorist's Home

UN Ocean Conference begins in France with aims to protect the high seas

World leaders, scientists, and civil society groups are in the southern French city of Nice for the United Nations Ocean Conference.

One of the key ambitions of the summit is to ratify the High Seas Treaty. 60 nations must sign up for it to become binding, but only 21 countries have committed to the treaty so far.
