Japan's Nikkei slumps amid mounting trade war concerns

Japan's Nikkei slumped on Friday as investors' worries mount over the economic fallout from the escalating US-China trade war.

The Nikkei was down more than 4 per cent in morning trade, while South Korean and Australian stocks also declined.

US stocks fall as Trump confirms 145% tariffs on China

U.S. stocks fell on Thursday as President Trump clarified that he had raised tariffs on Chinese goods by a total of 145 percent.


It comes as new inflation data shows that U.S. inflation eased more than expected in March but economists suggest this is likely to be a temporary reprieve before tariffs take effect.

US citizen jailed for Ukraine donation freed by Moscow

Death toll rises following Dominican Republic roof collapse

Rescue personnel continue to look for survivors following the deadly collapse of a nightclub roof in the Dominican Republic.


The death toll has now risen to at least 124 people, with more than 150 injured.
