TRUMP REPORTEDLY SET TO SIGN ORDER, DISMANTLING THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION

U.S. President Donald Trump is set to sign an executive order on Thursday, fulfilling a campaign pledge to dismantle the nation's Department of Education.

Mr. Trump will need help from Congress to make that a reality but has already taken steps to reduce its authority and has cut much of its workforce.

Israel shoots down missile fired by Houthis in Yemen


The Israeli military has shot down a missile fired by Houthi rebels in retaliation for U.S. strikes in Yemen.

The militants, who are closely allied to Iran, also support Hamas in the ongoing conflict in Gaza.

According to Palestinian health authorities, more than 500 people have been killed in Israeli strikes in Gaza since Tuesday.

Hundreds of farmers detained in India as they are evicted from protest camps

Hundreds of farmers have been detained by police in north India and bulldozers have been used to tear down their temporary camps in a  state border area where they have been protesting for over a year.

Trump says call with Zelensky "very good"

US president Donald Trump says his call with Ukraine's president Zelenskyy was - "very good" - and that peace talks are on track.

The pair have been speaking - a day after Trump talked to the Russian president Vladimir Putin - who said he would be willing to pause attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure.  

Within hours of that call, both sides launched fresh strikes - accusing each other of targeting oil facilities and power plants.
