Trump officials welcome US / Taliban prisoner exchange

Two Americans who were held in Afghanistan have been traded for a Taliban member imprisoned in the US.


The prisoner exchange was finalised in the final moments before US President Joe Biden left office, according to a Trump administration official.

The United Nations has responded with disappointment at the decision

Under threat of U.S. tariffs, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen warns of "global race to the bottom"


In a speech to the World Economic Forum, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said she is ready to negotiate with U.S. President Donald Trump over trade.

Trump has repeatedly threatened the European Union with tariffs unless the bloc buys more American oil and gas.

In her Davos speech, though, Von der Leyen also warned about a "global race to the bottom" if tariffs and other measures are deployed.

Trump ramps up border plans, faces legal challenges

US President Donald Trump has declared a national emergency as he
cracks down on illegal immigration.

He signed executive orders to end birthright citizenship - which gives

Trump pardons 1500 participants in Jan 6th riots

US President Donald Trump has pardoned around 1,500 people accused of criminal activity in the riots on Capitol Hill on January 6th 2021.


They include figures convicted of seditious conspiracy and acts of violence as they attempted to halt the certification of Joe Biden's election victory.

The newly inaugurated U.S. President says he will declare a National Emergency along the southern border, reinstate his Remain in Mexico Policy and invoke a war-time law that was last used to set up Japanese internment camps during World War II.

Trump Supporters Watch Inauguration With Delight

President Trump Delivers Inaugural Address

In his inaugural address he promised a 'golden age' for America. The wide ranging speech went on to heavily criticize the outgoing Biden administration, promised to overhaul global trade policies and vowed to 'forge a society that is colorblind and merit based'.
