Senior officials of the European Union say they are committed to
strengthening ties with the United States.

This comes in a week where incoming President Donald Trump threatened
Denmark if it did not give Greenland to the U.S.

Pakistan resumes air flights to Paris

China's Xi to send top-level envoy to Trump's inauguration, FT reports

UN warns Syrian refugees facing 'desperate conditions'

The United Nations is warning more than 125,000 Syrian refugees are facing "desperate conditions" as they return to their home country.


The UN's refugee agency U.N.H.C.R says many people have arrived back in Syria following last month's fall of the Assad regime.


But families find themselves with little shelter and few economic prospects.

NEW YORK'S HIGHEST COURT REJECTS TRUMP'S BID TO HALT HUSH-MONEY SENTENCING

New York's highest court has rejected an attempt by Donald Trump and his lawyers to prevent him from being sentenced for his criminal conviction on Friday.

Day of mourning for former US President Jimmy Carter's funeral

The funeral service for former US President Jimmy Carter will be held
later today [Thursday] with the country holding a national day of
mourning.

Carter served one term in office as the 39th US President, from 1977 to 1981.
