Thirteen people killed after Navy boat hits passenger ferry off Mumbai coast

At least 13 people have been killed after an Indian navy boat collided with a passenger ferry off the coast of Mumbai.

The ferry, which was carrying more than 100 people, capsized.

US Fed cuts interest rate for third time in 2024

The US Federal Reserve has reduced interest rates by another quarter
of a percent, its third consecutive cut of 2024.

However, the central bank has signaled just two cuts in the coming year.

First severe bird flu case reported in US

A patient in the US state of Louisiana has been hospitalized with the H5N1 bird flu virus.


It's the country's first severe case and the first known case stemming from a non-commercial poultry flock.

Supreme Court will hear TikTok ban arguments

The US Supreme Court will hear arguments next month about whether TikTok should be banned.


The Chinese-owned social media app is facing a January 19th deadline to be sold, or face a ban in the United States.


But Tiktok says proposed legislation would violate free speech protections in the US Constitution.

US returns two Bali bomber Guantanamo detainees

The Pentagon has released two detainees held at the Guantanamo Bay
facility back to Malaysia.

Mohammed Farik bin Amin and Mohammed Nazir bin Lep had admitted

Amazon workers to strike

Thousands of Amazon workers in the United States are gearing up to go on strike from tomorrow (Thursday) over the tech giant's refusal to begin contract negotiations.


It follows a Congressional investigation which this week found the company pushes its workforce to fulfil orders at speeds that could cause high rates of injury. Amazon claims those findings are "wrong" and featured "selective, outdated information that isn't grounded in reality."

Mangione faces murder charges in New York

The suspect accused of killing a top healthcare insurance official has been charged with murder in New York


Luigi Mangione was indicted on 11 counts on Tuesday, including first-degree murder and murder as an act of terrorism.
