the latest escalation in fighting between Ukraine and Russia.
Antonio Guterres' comments follow reports that Ukraine had fired
US-made missiles into Russia.
Russian President Vladimir Putin also formally lowered the threshold
for using nuclear weapons, opening the door to a potential nuclear
response by Moscow.

Trump's hush money sentencing indefinitely adjourned
Donald Trump will not be sentenced next week, as the judge overseeing his hush money case works out how to proceed.
The US president-elect was found guilty of falsifying business records back in May, but hasn't yet been given his punishment.
Now, Judge Juan Merchan has ruled it should be indefinitely adjourned.

Ukraine uses American weapons to strike deep into Russian territory
Ukraine has fired American-made long-range missiles deep into Russia, just a day after the United States gave permission for the use of these weapons on Russian soil.
Russia's Defence Ministry said the strike on Tuesday morning caused a fire at a military facility in its internationally-recognised territory, vowing an "appropriate and tangible response" to the attack.
