PREGNANT WOMAN, SIX CHILDREN, AMONG CHANNEL DEAD

It's now known that six children and a pregnant woman were among 12 people who died when a migrant boat sank off France on Tuesday.

10 of the dead were women.

More than 50 people were rescued in the English Channel when the overloaded vessel broke apart off Cape Gris-Nez.

It's the biggest loss of life in the Channel between France and the UK this year.

Border Security and Asylum Minister Angela Eagle says the crossing is becoming even riskier.

US files criminal charges against Hamas leader

US prosecutors have filed criminal charges against Hamas leader Yahya
Sinwar and five other militants in the group.

The charges, related to the October 7th attack on Israel, include
terrorism, and conspiracy to use weapons of mass destruction.

Several arrests in Turkey after US marines attacked

US officials say they are "troubled" by an assault on two marines in western Turkey this week.


The US servicemen were attacked in Izmir province on Monday by a nationalist Turkish youth group.


Several people have been arrested in connection to the incident.

UN confident it can vaccinate thousands of children in Gaza against Polio

The United Nations says it has surpassed its target of mass polio
vaccinations in central Gaza in just the first two days of the
campaign.
Humanitarians are trying to get over 600-thousand children under the
age of 10 vaccinated with great haste after doctors discovered a baby
with polio in the enclave last month.

Nigeria Police Declare Briton Wanted for Alleged Plot to Overthrow President Tinubu

Putin says Russian forces advancing fast in Eastern Ukraine, Zelensky says otherwise

Hundreds of Inmates Dead in Kinshasa Prison Escape

Authorities in the Democratic Republic of Congo say 129 inmates died as they tried to escape from the country's largest prison in the capital Kinshasa on Monday. 

The country's Interior Minister, Jacquemain Shabani says 24 of the inmates were shot dead by police officers and the rest died of suffocation as they jostled to flee the detention facility.

Paris authorities confirm end to elevated Olympic subway prices

The Paris transport authorities have confirmed an end to the elevated subway prices which were brought in for the duration of the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

A bundle of ten tickets on the French capital's metro was priced at 35 dollars just for the summer, instead of the usual cost of 19 dollars.

Israel says a decision by the UK to suspend some arms sales to the country is 'disappointing'.

Second drone attack in Manipur in two days; injures 3
