US and allies seek to dial down middle east tensions

The United States and its allies are trying to dial down tensions in the Middle East.

They are concerned Iran will attack Israel, who it blames for last week's killing of Hamas' political leader in Tehran.

Harris campaign raises $310 million in July

Kamala Harris's presidential campaign has announced it raised more than 300 million dollars in July, the largest monthly total so far in this year's election cycle.

Americans return from Russia in multi-nation prisoner swap

Three Americans have touched down back on US soil to scenes of jubilation and relief after being imprisoned in Russia. 


Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich, journalist Alsu Kurmasheva and US Marine veteran Paul Whelan were part of the biggest prisoner swap between the West and Russia since the Cold War.


They were met on the tarmac just outside of Washington DC by their families, as well as President Joe Biden and Vice-President Kamala Harris.

Torrential rains kill hundreds across India

UK PM Announces New Police Unit To Tackle Rioting Following Southport Stabbing Attack

The UK Prime Minister has announced a new national police unit to prevent violent disorder in the wake of violent protests, following the killing of three children in a stabbing attack on Monday in Northwest England.


Keir Starmer said a system of shared intelligence, facial recognition technology, preventative action, and criminal behaviour orders will help stop potential criminals before they can board a train.

Russia, West hold largest prisoner exchange since the Cold War

In the largest prisoner exchange since the Cold War, the US, Germany, Slovenia and Russia agreed to exchange 26 people. The prisoner swap took place in the capital of Turkey, Ankara. Moscow received 10 Russians accused of espionage and other criminal activities in the West. Two children were also reportedly involved in the exchange - they were the kids of the Russian couple convicted in Slovenia for espionage.
