Zelensky: Preparations underway for a second peace summit

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky published a video on Thursday thanking participants of the recent Ukraine Peace Summit, and announced that steps were being taken to present a clear path to peace at the second Global Peace Summit.

Far-right on course for victory in French general election

France's leading far-right party the National Rally say they have identified 50 strategic posts in government and the civil service that would be barred for dual nationals if they win the upcoming general election.


The latest polls show the National Rally finishing ahead of both the left-wing coalition and President Macron's centrist alliance.

Euroskeptic parties in Central Europe are looking to form EP faction.

Central and Eastern European leaders are reportedly discussing the formation of a new faction within the European Parliament.

According to Hungary's Nepszava newspaper, the proposed group would include Hungarian, Czech, and Slovak parties outside any EP political group, as Pablo Gutierrez reports.

US condemns declining religious freedoms in India

In rare condemnation of its strategic partner, the US has criticised declining religious freedoms in India.

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said there's been a 'concerning' surge in hate speech and attacks on minorities in India, while unveiling an annual religious freedom report.

New Delhi has not commented yet, but has in the past called these reports 'propaganda'.

JUNIOR DOCTORS STRIKE IN ENGLAND

Junior doctors are beginning a new strike in England over pay.

Patients are being told to expect disruption to operations and hospital appointments, with the walk-out set to last a week.

The government says pay demands by junior doctors' unions are unreasonable.

US State Department insists Julian Assange put lives at risk through leaks

The US State Department has reinstated its assertion that WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange put lives at risk — but it declined to say how. 


Mr Assange landed back in Australia on Wednesday after pleading guilty to violating espionage law in a deal that sets him free from a 14-year legal battle.


He served time behind bars in the UK and stayed at the Ecuadorian embassy in London whilst fighting extradition to the United States, having been responsible for one of the biggest leaks of classified material in American history.

Biden pardons US veterans convicted under homosexuality law

US President Joe Biden is offering a pardon to thousands of veterans who were convicted under a military law that banned homosexuality.

Progressive loss and far-right win in US votes
