Modi secures support of allies, power sharing talks not over yet

Coalition politics are back in play in India after a decade of dominance by Prime Minister Modi's party.

Modi has been chosen by his allies to lead their coalition but they are yet to formally tell the Indian President they have enough numbers to form the next government.

In the last two terms, Modi's party on its own, breached the 272 mark needed to form the government. This time, it won only 240 seats.

US and 'Five Eyes' allies warn China courting Western military trainers

INTRO: The US, Britain, Canada, Australia and New Zealand have warned that China was circumventing measures aimed at stopping its recruitment of current and former Western military pilots to train the Chinese military.

Putin: Moscow to use nuclear weapons if its sovereignty is under threat

Russia's leader Vladimir Putin reaffirmed his country's readiness to use nuclear arms if it sees a threat to its sovereignty. He also warned that Western arms deliveries to Ukraine were "a very dangerous step", and said Moscow reserves the right for "asymmetrical" retaliation elsewhere in the world. The threats came in response to recent decisions of the US and several EU countries allowing Ukraine to use Western-supplied weapons to strike targets inside Russia.

Georgia appeals court puts Trump election subversion case on hold

A Georgia appeals court has put the state's election subversion case against Donald Trump on hold indefinitely while it considers a request to disqualify the lead prosecutor over a conflict of interest.


The decision is the latest indication that it's highly unlikely the former president's trial will begin before November's presidential election.

Republicans block bill to protect access to contraception

Congestion pricing plans scrapped in New York City

Liftoff for Boeing-NASA's historic partnership mission to space

Britain's King, Queen, Prime Minister and other dignitaries are marking the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings in Portsmouth (on Wednesday).

Events are taking place in the UK and France over the next two days.
