Social media app TikTok has been temporarily banned and troops have been deployed on the French Pacific island of New Caledonia.

The government is trying to restore order after several days of violent unrest over a constitutional reform passed by MPs.

International Court of Justice holds hearing over Rafah offensive

The International Court of Justice is holding a hearing over South
Africa's demands that Israel halt its offensive in Rafah.

Late last year Pretoria brought a case against Israel to the UN's top
court accusing it of violating the genocide convention. Allegations

FICO 'NO LONGER IN LIFE THREATENING SITUATION'

Slovakia's Prime Minister is no longer in a life-threatening condition after what's being described as an assassination attempt.

That's according to the country's deputy Prime Minister.

Robert Fico was shot several times in an attack in the town of Handlova.

A suspect has been arrested.

China vows to carry out countermeatures against a civililian-led Philippine fleet in disputed waters

Japan and US to build missile interceptors

Barge collides with Pelican Island Bridge in Galveston, TX

A barge collided with a bridge in Galveston, Texas Wednesday morning - causing part of the Pelican Island Bridge to break off. An oil spill has also been detected, but at this point, no injuries have been reported. Toni Waterman has more.

US inflation eased in April, according to new CPI figures

US inflation eased slightly last month, according to new data released Wednesday.


The consumer price index, which measures changes in price for a basket of goods and services, increased 0.3% in April - less than estimates.

Nakba marked by university protests

Students in the Belgian city of Gent are marking the Nakba anniversary
with fresh demonstrations on campus.

Nakba means catastrophe in Arabic and is a term used to describe the
mass expulsion of Palestinians from what is now Israel 76 years ago.

Israel releases footage of armed men at a UN facility in Gaza

The United Nations says it condemns the use of any UN facilities by
any party to the conflict in Gaza.
This comes after the Israeli army released drone footage showing armed

E.U. members, the U.K. and the U.S. have criticised the passage of a new "foreign agent bill" in Georgia's parliament.

Nigeria Suspends Cybersecurity Levy Amid Cost of Living Crisis

Major manhunt under way in France for escaped prisoner

Beijing hits back as US proposes new tariffs on Chinese imports
