Lawmakers in the United States have delivered their articles of impeachment for President Joe Biden's director of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas, arguing he's failing to stem record flows of migrants across the US-Mexico border.
Secretary Mayorkas — the man in charge of governing America's borders — earlier this year became the first US cabinet member to be impeached in nearly 150 years, with House Speaker Mike Johnson calling him "the greatest domestic threat to the safety of the American people."
The step today moves the process from Congress's lower chamber, the House of Representatives, to the upper chamber, the Senate, where he's likely to be acquitted.
