TEPCO to begin fourth treated water discharge from Fukushima plant

Japan is set to begin a fourth discharge of treated, radioactive water into the Pacific Ocean from Wednesday. 

The owner of the wrecked Fukushima nuclear power plant, TEPCO, has been releasing the water in batches since August last year.

London Mayor Accuses Government Of Failing To Call Out “Anti-Muslim” Racism As Row Over Conservative MP’s Comments Grows.

The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, has accused the Conservative Government of failing to call out "anti-Muslim" racism.

His criticism comes as a row over comments by Conservative Lawmaker, Lee Anderson, grows. 


Anderson has been suspended by his party after he criticised the Mayor's handling of Pro-Palestine protests and said that he believed "Islamists" had "got control" of Khan and London.

Human Rights Watch accuses Israel of not complying with ICJ order

US Supreme Court hears social media law cases

The US Supreme Court is hearing two cases that could drastically alter
laws governing social media companies and what Americans see on their
platforms.

It comes after Texas and Florida enacted laws to prevent firms
removing content from sites.

The Court is expected to issue its opinion in June.

Hungarian Parliament Set To Ratify Sweden's NATO Accession

Hungary's Parliament is set to ratify Sweden's NATO accession on Monday, clearing the last hurdle in the path of completing its membership of the bloc. 


Sweden applied to join the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation two years ago, in a major departure from their long held position of neutrality. 


Having overcome Turkey's opposition, Hungary was the last member state blocking Sweden's application. However following talks on Friday Hungary's Prime Minister said he had managed to rebuild trust.

Report says that anti-Muslim hate speech has surged in India

Anti-Muslim hate speech in India soared by 62 per cent in the second half of last year compared to the first six months of the year, according to Washington-based research group India Hate Lab.

Its new report reveals that there were 668 hate speech incidents targeting Muslims in 2023, with most of these occurring during the second half of the year - citing the Israel-Gaza war a major factor.

Haley moves onto to campaign in Michigan after Trump wins South Carolina Republican primary

Former U.S. President Donald Trump is moving forward with campaigns that challenge current President Joe Biden.
It's not official but he is the presumptive Republican party nominee, after winning the latest primary election in South Carolina against Nikki Haley.
