The United States and India are discussing ways to strengthen their cooperation in the defence sector at a two-day summit being held in Delhi and beginning on Tuesday.
This comes as western countries want India to reduce its dependence on Moscow, which is India's largest supplier of defence equipment.

Two police officers and a paramedic have been killed and another officer injured in a shooting in the US state of Minnesota after responding to an incident at a family home.
The gunman, who was barricaded inside his Burnsville home with seven children, opened fire as officers tried to negotiate with him.

Former US President Donald Trump has linked the death of Russia's imprisoned opposition leader Alexei Navalny to his own legal woes, saying it made him "more aware of what's happening" in the United States.
But Mr Trump didn't blame Vladimir Putin — a vast contrast to President Joe Biden, who claims his Russian counterpart is "responsible" for Navalny's death last week in an Arctic Circle penal colony.
