Pressure mounts on Hungary over Sweden’s NATO bid

Hungary faces mounting pressure to approve Sweden's NATO membership, with Germany urging Prime Minister Viktor Orbán to hasten the process. Earlier this week, Hungary's ruling party boycotted an extraordinary session called by opposition groups to expedite Sweden's NATO bid.

Pre Poll Violence In Pakistan


26 people have died and several more injured in two bomb blasts in Pakistan, a day before the country votes to elect a new government.

 

The country's caretaker government has condemned the attacks, saying once again that nothing will mar Thursday's polls.

South Africa/Nigeria in War of Words Ahead AFCON Clash

A diplomatic row has broken out between South Africa and Nigeria ahead of a Wednesday semi-final encounter between both countries at the ongoing African Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.

 

The war of words began after Nigeria warned its citizens resident in South Africa to be watchful of their utterances and be mindful of where they watch the match, especially in public places.


The warning was intended to prevent the provocation of xenophobic attacks by frustrated South African supporters.

Inquiry launched into blast at firecracker factory in India

WILLIAM TO RESUME ROYAL DUTIES

Prince William resumes royal duties on Wednesday with King Charles having returned to Sandringham following his cancer diagnosis.

William took time away from royal engagements while his wife, the Princess of Wales, recovered from abdominal surgery.

On Tuesday Prince Harry met with his father King Charles in London, before the King and Queen headed back to their Sandringham estate in Norfolk.

It's reported William and Harry have no plans to meet while the latter visits from the US.

Orca pod stuck in ice off northern Japan

About 10 Orca whales are trapped in drift ice in far northern Japan. 


According to local officials the pod was seen through a small gap in the ice about one kilometer off the coast of Hokkaido.

Four bolts appeared to be missing from a door plug that blew off an Alaska Airlines plane mid-flight last month, according to a preliminary investigation.


The incident has increased scrutiny on the aircraft's manufacturer Boeing, which delivered the plane to the airline last year.

US woman sentenced over son's school shooting

A US woman has been convicted of involuntary manslaughter in relation to her son's school shooting.


After 11 hours of deliberations, a jury found Jennifer Crumbley guilty of all four counts.


It's believed to be the first time a parent has been tried for manslaughter in connection with a mass shooting conducted by their child.


The 45-year-old is due to be sentenced on April 9.
