French President Macron attends India's 75th Republic Day parade

French President Emmanual Macron is attending India's 75th Republic Day celebrations in New Delhi.

Mr Macron is the chief guest at the annual event that showcases India's military prowess and cultural heritage.

Prime Minister Narenda Modi said that Mr Macron's visit will add a 'significant chapter' to the shared history of friendship and collaboration between the two nations.

Survey concludes that a Hindu temple existed on site of India's Gyanvapi mosque

The Archaeological Survey of India says there is evidence that a Hindu temple once existed on the site of a large, famous mosque in the city of Varanasi.

Hindu groups had filed a case claiming that the mosque was built on the site of a temple

This comes after Indian prime minister Narendra Modi inaugurated a Hindu temple in Ayodhya on Monday, which has controversially been constructed after a mosque was torn down from that location by a Hindu mob in 1992.

Donald Trump defends defamatory remarks in New York trial

Former US President Donald Trump says he made defamatory remarks whilst in the White House "to defend himself, his family and the Presidency."


Testifying in a New York courtroom on Thursday, Mr Trump insists he didn't intend to cause harm to E Jean Carroll.


He accused the author of making up a sexual abuse claim against him for financial and political reasons.


But, he says, he stands by his denial of her allegations.

Global shipping "not in crisis" just yet, says the UN

Consumers may be faced with higher food prices due to delays along the
world's major shipping corridors.

Four months in jail for Navarro found guilty of contempt of U.S. Congress


Peter Navarro, long-time trade advisor to former U.S. President Donald Trump, was sentenced to four months in jail on Thursday.

He'd been found guilty of two counts of contempt of Congress for not appearing at a January 6th committee hearing.

Killings in Haiti double in 2023

Haiti remains plagued by violence due to an unprecedented surge in

Pakistan condemns consecration of Hindu Temple
